WE NEED JUDGES!!!
As you may be aware, the club have to provide judges on the entry form for all competitions in the London region.
The rules state quite clearly that “If enough officials are not nominated (or a penalty paid for one less official than required), competitors will only be accepted up to the maximum number for the nominated officials. Competitors listed after an empty ‘official’s name’ box on the entry form will not be accepted. Any club failing to arrive at the required time with their official(s), or with official(s) incorrectly dressed, can be withdrawn. Any club arriving at an event without their official(s) and being unable to provide a substitute of equal and approved calibre will be fined in the first instance and the club may be disqualified if there are further instances”.
The MINIMUM required in London is: -
Clubs entering 2 - 3 competitors 1 named qualified official
Clubs entering 4 - 6 competitors 2 named qualified officials
Clubs entering 7 - 10 competitors 3 named officials (minimum of 2 qualified)
Clubs entering 11 - 15 competitors 4 named officials (minimum of 3 qualified)
Clubs entering 16 - 20 competitors 5 named officials (minimum of 3 qualified)
Clubs entering 21 - 25 competitors 6 named officials (minimum of 4 qualified)
Clubs entering 26 - 30 competitors 7 named officials (minimum of 4 qualified)
Clubs entering 31+ competitors 7 named officials, plus 1 per 10 (or part 10) competitors over 30 (minimum of 4 qualified) (Our usual entry highlighted in green)
National requirements (Grade 1 and 2 events) differ from regional requirements but are similar. However, higher-grade officials are required. Candidates for Higher-grade courses can only attend the appropriate course when they have judged a minimum number of courses at Grade 3-6.
Many clubs make a parental commitment to judge courses and judging a mandatory condition of membership for their children. Whilst we have never considered going down this route we are currently in a desperate situation as far as judges are concerned and competition entries, and indeed the future of the club are now seriously jeopardised.
We need at least 10 more qualified officials (so that judging can be shared around and that people are not judging at every event. If you would be willing to be put forward on a judge course and help guarantee competition entries this year and in the future, please speak to Sheila immediately.
